The civil aviation ministry has been urging states and Union Territories (UTs) to scale back the VAT levied on Aviation Turbine Gas (ATF), which is the foremost part of an airline’s operational prices.

The airline trade has been considerably impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

In a tweet on Friday, Scindia thanked Praful Okay Patel, the Administrator of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, for the “progressive choice” to scale back VAT on Air Turbine Gas (ATF) to three per cent.

“Whereas we march stronger with 24 states/ UTs on the aspect of low VAT charges, I urge the others to leap on our bandwagon & assist convey better connectivity to individuals,” Scindia stated.
